A. H. will test your ability no doubt. I have had good luck fishing this lake and one thing for sure you have to be ready or fishing 12 to 40ft the majority of the time. Bank beaters don`t like the lake. Fishing buddy doesn`t want me to post his pictures. He like others here are most happy when few boats are on the lake. 2 ten pounders in the same day September 5th.

I've had some of my most fun sightfishing experiences ever on this lake for several years in a row. It was nothing to pull into a cove and see 4 or 5 fish between 7 & 9 pounds that you could fish for, all at the same time. The hotels that built when the flurry was on.....are they able to stay open now? Sure hope so. Our biggest sightfish we ever boated was 10.2. I remember the day we fished for a behemoth. We actually spent almost two days on her. She was too far back in a cedar tree but we tried. She was easily a ShareLunker. My Okla buddy asks to go back every year. I say she's washed up for now and he don't believe me. He still has his PB out there. That was a weird flurry, no doubt.

Sounded sarcastic, sorry. Wasn't meant that way. Just making sure we are talking about the same place.

Thad I am curious to hear your credentials and history on Lah. I understand you guide now. What makes you think that we should trust you over TPWD. Is it because you caught one 6lb fish last year? Is it because you have video tapes of the land before the lake was filled?
I am not being facetious here. I actually want to hear your opionions and thoughts. I know that Mr Purdy, poole (both), and Norman Clayton can have a trusted opinion on the lake because of their time put in on LAH.

I took that survey and everyone else should as well!!!

As mentioned, I get very lucky on that lake and I have fished it since 1998. If we had certified it, I would have hsd the lake record smallie in late October of 1998, caught out of what is now Game Warden cove. Besides using to ride over it on horse back, my great uncle owned all of Gobbler Creek. I know where a 10lb native largemouth was caught in 1969 off of my great uncles ranch that is now in Gobbler Creek, submerged underwater. I have been on the lake more than 120 times since 1998. GOOD and BAD times, I seem to have a knack of finding fish that will bite, maybe not, but it seems like that. On or tiny little working man's T, I won it 8 times fishing from shore, so I had to SLOW DOWN and fish what I could. I am a lot cheaper than the other guides, too, as we use your boat and I only charge $125 for a half day or $200 for a full day, while giving you exact things to put in your graph. BUT NO, DO NOT HIRE ME, because I always defend my home water. I KNOW NOTHING AVOOUT TH EAKE AT ALL. I know where they stocked the big fish to start the lake before they ran into legal trouble wo buying all the oil wells up first. THAT is not on any printed map, that I know of. My biggest fish is ab 8lb 9 oz. fish. BUT NOPT DO NOT LISTEN TO ME, because I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT TH ELAKE111111111111111111111111111111111

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I rarely post on this site, but this subject intrigued me. September has always been a hard month to fish Alan Henry even when it was a hot lake. The problem with the lake is the spots have taken over, too many internet warriors proclaiming it was the best lake in Texas from 2002-2007, and back when ESPN had BassCenter, Byron Velvick would state at least two times a month if you wanted to catch a bass over 10lbs, go to Alan Henry. Can't count the times only one truck in five would have Texas plates. Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania, etc., not just the adjoining states. Talk to them on the water and they would have a 4-5 lb bass in their livewell, not going to release it because it was a trophy back home. Too many fish were pulled from the gene pool and TDPW gave minimal support through the SAL program with restocking. Sad to hear anyone bragging about a 6 lb fish for the year. Seems like the working man's T stopped being held due to lack of participation. I quit making the drive, too many lakes around me with a lot better chance of catching not just more numbers, but better quality. There are still some big fish in the lake no doubt, but it isn't a target rich environment anymore.

Fair enough. I can’t tell if you really don’t want me to hire you or not.....I sure as heck wouldn’t pay you to teach me how to spell. Nobody is saying the lake is DEAD. It is just in need of a tune up. Seems like the state just doesn’t care about it and it makes me sad because you’re correct when you say it is a beautiful place to fish.
