I've been known to tie one on, especially on the weekend. Watch out! I heard folks are getting moved to Berkeley California for that.

I start with a leader about 4' long then adjust as needed. I've used a leader as short as one foot but that is in the spring when the bass start bedding.

Try tying a squarebill instead of a plastic on the end of your C-rig. I'm not sure if this changes it from a C-rig, but you keep the same beads and weight set up.

20 - 25lb Sunline Sniper our Shooter Flourocarbon for main line... always a 1oz bullet shaped weight... bobberstoppers in between the weight and swivel (keeps the weight from damaging the knot to liter line)... no beads for me (bad luck with line damage using beads) with anywhere from a 5 - 7 liter... longer liter with no wind

Assume you do this over rock where both the C-rig weight and the square bill are banging on the rocks. Do you use a slower than normal retrieve?

How do you work this rig with a square bill? Do you use a slow steady retrieve and keep weight on bottom? Drag then reel like a typical c rig? Or just reel at normal crankbait speed and use the weight to keep it running deep but not on bottom? Very interesting. I read about a guy doing this years ago but never tried it.
