I fish a lot of ponds and small lakes and I have heard they are great for that but don't have any experience with them. What do ya'll think?

I like throwing jigs of all types. A good trailer for that finesse jig is a Zoom ultravibe speed craw. I tear it in half to shorten it up so it isn't too long for the small jig.

If you are fishing around a lot of grass with the jig, I would choose a swim jig because it has a pointed head instead of round and it will come through the grass better.

I hardly ever throw jigs. Tx rig comes through cover better & hooks up better. IMO

Throw a big jig. Let the whimpy dudes finesse fish.

That jig just might get you a bigger bite than the Tx. rig. I always have both to fish with.

If you haven't thrown finesse jigs in clear water and lakes with big chunk rock then you're missing out my friend. I can speak from experience that you can catch some big ones of finesse jigs. I have even flipped a finesse jig just like a would a regular jig in pressured conditions and been able to catch plenty of fish and big ones at that.

I agree, some days the fish just don't want the bigger jig but on the days they do, you can catch some nice fish.

Now the finesse jigs that I use do not have light wire hooks. Some finesse jigs do so that is something to watch for when you are choosing a finesse jig, or a light weight jig.

Eh.....if a little teenie weenie finesse jig is what it takes, I'll pull out my Biffle bug rod before I'd try one of em. I can't stand the frustrations of trying to flip an 1/8oz or smaller little fluffy thing. Nah. Finesse is a brand of women's hair care stuff....I'm sure of it.

finesse jigs are not just 1/8 oz and smaller, they are 3/8 and smaller, I throw a 1/4 and 3/8 strike king bitsy flip jig 90 percent of the time. These little jigs have caught fish for me as big as 9.9 lbs. heavier jigs I use in deeper water 15 plus, don't miss out it works. Over all it comes down to what you have the most confidence in.

I used to throw a finesse jig a lot. Now I find myself using full size jig most of the time. Not sure why, but I am sure that I have caught quite a few 7-9 pound fish the last several years and a majority of those I can attribute to a big jig. And if you use the right jig, itll come through cover just fine.

A finesse jig is more about style of head, hook, and skirt than it is weight. Mostly I throw 3/16 and 5/16 but I have some up to a 1/2ounce.

It's a smaller profile skirt that mostly makes it finesse.

I prefer the traditional round ball head and round bend hook, but I have seen many varitions of the finesse style jig as well.

I've caught just as big a bass on a finesse jig as I have a regular style jig. Everything has it's place.
