I need to get some prescription sunglasses for fishing and before I plop down a huge chunk of change, I was wondering which brand of sunglasses seems to hold up the best and are comfortable all day long and the best color lense for seeing the fish. Thanks for your help!

Watched the YouTube - that was truly an eye-opener. Now I understand why the prices are so outrageous. I was looking t the Costa 580P's but adding prescription lenses takes the price to almost $700. Think I keep looking and just keep my regular glasses in the boat if I need to do some close up type of stuff. Thanks for the replies!

Heres my opinion. I was an Oakley guy for years. Then Oakley was bought by the Italian sunglasses factory that owns almost every brand of sunglasses. Then I became a Smith Optics guy. Then they were also bought by Italian sunglasses factory. I currently own 2 pair if Smith's when they are lostor damaged I'll be going with Costas. As far as i know Costa is the only major sunglasses company not owned by said company. In my mind there is now Costa and then there's everything else now.

I bought some Oakley RX sunglasses with amber polarized lenses. Second to my Ultrex it’s the best investment I ever made.

Thanks to you all. I have been partial to Costa and Oakley. Both seem to he first class companies with many positives and some negatives as well. No company is perfect but Costa seems to be more "fishing oriented." Have to see the cost as an investment in my love for fishing and my eyes!

Anyone have or tried these Bell and Howell Tac sunglasses ? They seem like they would be great for fishing especially in low light conditions.

Luxottica, the Milan-based sunglasses mega-conglomerate that owns brands such as Oakley and Ray-Ban has announced it has entered into a merger agreement valued at $49 billion with Essilor, the French parent company of Costa Del Mar (among other brands). For more details, see this New York Times story.

Where are all the groups who scream about mergers that create monopolies? If Luxottica doesn't have a monopoly on this industry, then there must be different standards for different industries. Looks like I may need to act fast if I want Costa sunglasses. Who know how quickly their prices will rise!
