Hey guys I was driving by Bachman Lake the other day and was wondering , I see that there is a floating divider between the lake and the creek entrance , is this even legal ? I mean I would love to be able to go up the creek in my kayak chasing the crappie during the winter migration but this basically stops you from going up a navigable waterway . Anyone know anything about the laws concerning that we got any game wardens that can tell us .

Call TPWD @ (512) 389-4800 | (800) 792-1112.

They can tell you. It may be some sort of pollution control effort. texas

You can slide a yak right over that. Do it all the time no one has ever said a thing. I dont think the purpose is to keep out yaks.

They had a boom across parts of Fork to keep the giant salvinia from spreading. They didn't mind if boats crossed it. Heck, TPWD even gave instructions on how to cross it properly.

They probably had nothing to with it, but that rowing club thinks Bachman is their lake. Our friend lovfldx has had a couple of disagreements with them.

The buoy divider is to catch the debris coming in from the creek. Follow the link below for a short video.
I say like most here simply go over it. Oh, and the boaters mentioned are the Dallas Rowing Club...

Thanks guys , I know the crappie go up that creek in winter , I've caught them from shore but would like to try to trail them from my kayak . As for the rowing team they mind their business I'll mind mine .

Its a floating trash boom to catch floating debris. Its angled with the current flow to bring it to one shore so the trash can be removed by the Dallas Park Dept or a contractor. The purpose is not to block or restrict access. Glide over it and fish on.

Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff.
