I'm in need of a new trolling motor for my 18ft bass boat. Looking at motorguide and wondering what the benefits to digital are? My current one is digital but was wondering if I needed to go back with a new digital or if it mattered all that much. Was considering a Motor guide x3 70lb.

When my motorguide burned up the circuit board in the motor a few years ago I bought a kit from Jones Trolling Motors. It had a new digital board and all the wiring, brushes, foot controll switches, everything but a new armature. Its basically a new motor and now digital. No more power increase but doesnt drain the batteries near as fast. Came with instructions but he was very helpful in explaining what was needed to install it over the phone when I ordered it. Best I can remember it was about $250-$300. Quite a bit less than a used one of the same age and size. Give him a call and see what he suggests. I think he also has rebuilt ones also.

I'm not old. My bobbers just float a little lower than they used to.
