I like the MLF format, just prefer to watch anglers fishing for best 5 bites, as opposed to catching as many 1 lbers as they can.
Hopefully they will just integrate best 5 into MLF format.

I agree with the comment above. I prefer a mix of the two, not just numbers. I also enjoy when the anglers get real time updates from the marshal on the water. It's fun watching them try to stay in the game mentally when they're getting hammered. Adds another dimension to the competition.
It's only a good cast if you catch a fish... Personal Best: 11.62 lbs

Difficult to compare the two The currently/previously televised MLF competitions usually consist of 10 anglers or less at a time Much easier to present/edit/produce a more thorough program with 10 boats vs 100+
The MLF television format is better Much more fishing and catching is showed on the broadcasts The anglers do a lot of talking while they are fishing (looks like a lot of this is added post productionwhich is just fine). You get a notion of what the anglers strategy and thought processes are at that moment in time
Least favorite aspects of the televised traditional 5 fish broadcast are: The screaming MC/ corny nicknames and catch phrases Pumped in crowd noise and blaring background music The lack of televised fishing-way too much talking time from the hosts/analysts

The 5 fish formats would be easier to watch and more exciting if it were better produced and directed. Too much BS by the emcee's. What's the song say, a little less talk and a lot more action. Take some lessons from the golf telecast guys. As boring as golf can be they have a way to keep you watching and folks sure enough buy the stuff they sell. Fishing needs a charismatic emcee and I don't mean Fish Fishburne.

I'm hopeing that in the future they do a variety of formats. It is made for tv and still a competition.
The fact is that different anglers atr better suited for different fisheries and fish behavior according to seasonal patterns ect.
If it is made for tv all of the anglers must be exposed for strengths and weaknesses.

If MLF goes to a lake where it's got tons of fish and mostly small one, we know it's going to be a dink fest."with the catch all format".That catch all format would be boring under that scenario. If you implement a 5 fish limit under those circumstances they will still catch a lot of fish but the excitement wod be elevated.
I personally would be watching for entertainment and to learn over and beyond the competition.

I voted 5 fish. But if it's on tv I'll watch and enjoy either. I just like to see them fishing for the bigger fish instead a guy pull up on a spot and fish for 15 1 pounders
