having a tough time in the new toon getting a solid anchor. I�m planning to drift tonight, but I tried to anchor up in the shallows on Sunday and couldn�t keep the boat steady enough. Was in about 4 ft of water. Nose into the wind, drop anchor, drift back til I let out about 40 ft of anchor rope. Tied up. Dropped anchor off the back. Then pulled in about 20 ft of anchor rope on the front, re tied, and then tied off the back anchor. Both lines were tight, and I wasn�t moving, but had a lot of side to side sway.

Anybody have any tips?

Sometimes you can tie your front anchor rope to the downwind side of the front, putting your boat a little broadside to the wind. Usually helps

Caribou, use the "T" method off the front of your toon. Mine always held better that way than any other. Use plenty of rope, even in shallow water.

I have it on my current boat and had it on my previous toon. Don't like it for catfishing, still too much movement for me even in calmer situations. Works great for other species.

I can see that being amazing for fishing for channel cats, or controlled drifting. How does it work for putting out 5-6 lines at once when you�re locked on the spot?

Interesting. Do you tie your anchors off a little bit down the side of the rails? Or from the nose? Do you still try to put the nose into the wind?

Only thing I can think of that probably wouldn't work that great would be tight lining, it will move a few feet each direction.

Nose in to the wind and tied off right up front.

Get parallel to the wind and rolling about 3-5mph. Whichever side the wind is coming from drop that anchor first while still rolling about 3-5mph. Keep going staying as parallel to wind as you can. You�ll want a bunch of rope out and more the deeper you fish, I�ve got 2 150� ropes so I usually just run the whole 150� out then drop 2nd anchor quickly before you drift back too far. Kill motor and pull on first rope until you�re in the middle of your ropes and tie them to front cleats one on left the other on the right. Once you get tight you should be T�ed of the front straight nose into the wind.

Yup! I normally already had my 2nd anchor rope tied up at a pre-determined length so that after dropping it, I could move directly to pulling in on the 1st anchor until everything was tight, then tie the 1st anchor off. Takes a little practice, but once you have it down, it works well.

Key here is being a T not a V!!!
