I have always use lead jigs and weights and have been looking at using tungsten but am curious if it is worth the price have you guys seen any increase in strikes using tungsten over lead

I can't say that the smaller size of tungsten gets me more bites. But I can sure feel the bottom much better which typically leads to more fish.

I think tungsten is superior to lead with dropshotting being the exception.

Not sure I catch any more than I did with lead but I definitely like the smaller size/weight ratio of tungsten.

I won't climb trees and jump in the water with lead. I prefer tungsten for feel.

Like Chris said, it probably won't help you get more bites but you can certainly feel the bottom structure better with it and the smaller size helps you get the hook in the fish better most of the time.

When a bass takes a soft plastic bait, typically the weight goes into the fish's mouth as well. When you set the hook, the weight normally is pulled out of their mouth thereby forcing their jaws to open to allow the weight to pop out. If you are on them really good, you will see the scratch marks from their teeth on the weight. Common sense says the smaller opening of their mouth the better your chances are for a good hook up ratio.

I think tungsten is a little more noisy. Maybe only helps on lakes with rock. Also smaller diameter doesn�t seem to get snagged near as often.

Never tried tungsten but I'm sure I will one of these day. Reason being is about 20 years ago when I lived in Kansas a local Alco's was going out of business. They had brass weights on sale for .25 cents a bag. I bought every one they had and still haven't run out. I am getting pretty low on 1/8 and 3/16's thought. Might actually run out in another year or two.

sounds like me with Zoom lizards and brush hogs. I bought an entire shopping cart full of them when Walmart remodeled and had all of them in a buggy for 25 cents each. Also had Power pro for 25 cents a spool.

I wish I could find tungsten on sale like that. Those things are expensive. I use tungsten for flipping and c rig. Other stuff like jigs, jig heads, drop shot, etc gets lead.

Got lucky about 5 years ago, Walmart was clearing out all strike king tungsten and they had then piled in box on the shelf. Offered them $25 for the whole box haha. Still using them today...

When K-Mart was closing their doors in Amarillo I bought every bag of Zipper worms and Terminator spinnerbait they had for fifty cents each. Try Ten Bear baits for some good prices on tungsten.

100% of the fish I have caught on worms, jigs and spinner baits has been with lead weights. I have had no issues using lead.
