Do you troll with them? Shallow or deep? Yes these are primarily Trolling Rigs, tho you can fish like an A-Rig. Fish with them at what ever depth you find the fish. Down Riggers, or use weights to get to the level you want. We usually troll about 3-5 mph, 4 ounce weights with 9 - 1/2 ounce weights is good for 15-20 feet. The reason you want more weight on the front, is so that the rig does not have to spool out so far to reach your depth. We offer ezclip on weights to help you reach depth without having to let out a ton of line. We have put these up against other umbrella rigs, similar to the Capn's, and find that the blades make the difference. there are 2 large blades per leg, 8 total, that seem to get the attention of Striper or Hybrid. This is because of the flash and noise generated by the spinning blades. The center is about 16" and with a 14" leader seems to get hit the hardest. Guides and Fisherman alike love them! This has rapidly become our top selling RonRig. Ron

Ive been using Rons Texoma transformer for a few years now. Ive used capt macks and some others that do work really well. The Texoma transformers have actually been producing more quality fish 2 to 1 over the others. I believe the willow leaf blades are the key factor to attracting deep water fish. Even when the fish are down at 50 or 60 ft. I turn on my Thumper and start dragging those transformers and those deep fish come up and hammer those rigs. Ive only had one arm break off in 4 years of abuse. A few leaders broke because I had my drag set too tight for the initial strike. But since then I backed them off some and only one leader broke when I hooked up 2 double digit stripers on one rig. Some of my customers have reeled in 4 fish on one transformer. A 12, 10, 9, 7.5 lb. at one time on one rig. It took nearly 20 minutes to land them and the client was done for almost an hour but joined his buddies again for some more catching. Texoma transformers work well and generally stand up to the abuse stripers put on them.
