Went through Brownwood yesterday.

What's the story with Underwoods? I didn't have time to stop.

Just BBQ, Buffett, Family Style?

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

Some of all the above, have not been in many years, used to be very good then took a dive to bad then worser than bad, the old west guns on the wall then were nice to look at, I never went back, horrible was an understatement, service good food bad. That was along time ago.

Growing up in Brownwood, I have been in Underwoods more than most. Brownwood only had a few good places to eat for a long time. Section Hand, Red Wagon (I guess), and Underwoods. I still like it but it has changed a lot. Their rolls have not though.

Brisket is awful (IMO). Other BBQ is OK. The fried chicken, rolls, sides and cobbler are some of the best.

Never tried the one in Brownwood but they used to have 3 or 4 places in Ft. Worth/Arlington back in the day - the BBQ was always below average but the CFS, fried chicken, and sides were decent. I ate there occasionally since a one meat plate with all you could eat sides seemed like a good deal at the time. All the Ft. Worth/Arl. locations shut down in the late 80's-early 90's, I believe.

The rolls are great, the BBQ, not so much.

Had a talk with an old friend last week and he recently had tried it again, said call me stupid for doing so! Just like the last 2 times we went all but BBQ was good BBQ horrible sauce worse. He mentioned he asked for a refund! He got it.

When I 1st tried it years back it was very good but sure went down hill.

Typical fast food place. You know before hand how it is going to taste. No BBQ for me but I do every so often get their fried chicken. It's decent IMO.

I loved the huge burgers they used to serve at the Section Hand, but haven't been there in years.

Biden famously said in the New York Observer, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

I went to school with an Underwoods offspring in Lawton. We had two of the stores. I agree their BBQ wasnt good but their fried chicken is still great. I remember my dad picking up a bucket of chicken and wed head out to fish after school on Lake Lawtons for crappie. Still great memories 45 years later. I talked to one of the long term employees at the Brownwood restaurant a few years ago and she said none of the grandkids were interested in keeping the family business going so it slowly disappeared.
