I have two mercury smart craft gauges and the tact. backlight stays on all the time. What can I do to get it to turn off when the power switch is turned off.

Apparently, they are wired into an always hot source. Wire them into a switched source, preferably the key on, so they come on and off as you start and stop the motor.
