When I was a kid I envied everyone who had a waterbed. I always wanted one but my parents wouldn’t let me have one. I always swore I would buy me one as soon as I could but it ended up being something that was forgotten about by me and everyone else in the world apparently. Something made me think about it today and I got to googling and they can still be bought.

If it rains very heavily I don't have a waterbed but I do have water in the bed from the leaky roof.

Never had one. Slept on one a couple times. Didn’t care for it.

The ones with the internal baffles didn't have the same motion as the old fashioned ones.

Yep. Bride bought a pillow top something or other 3 or 4 yrs ago. I started sleeping on the couch. She decided we needed a waterbed again last year. Helps with my back problems.

I have had one since 1973. Back then I built the frame and back then they were almost all the same. A single cell water mattress. It would bounce around till you quit moving then it was pretty comfortable. I was in school and lived in a garage so it was heated, a feature I've continued to find useful even when it moved into a house.
I am kind of old fashioned and the waveless mattresses came out in the late 70's or early 80's but until a person advertised one on the TFF about 8 years ago I never had one. I like these much better. Almost no movement and if you are on one side the other side does not move much either.
I had heard that waterbed heaters last about 10 years before they burn out. I'm still on heater number two.

My parents had one when I was a kid, but had to get rid of it because it hurt my mom's back. I believe the frame is still up in the attic. It's been there for over 30 years.
