I have not done a lot of fall striper fishing. Any info on fall patterns would be greatly appreciated. How long does down rigging last? When does the live bait bite start to pick up? Do they leave deeper water and start going shallow as water temps cool? Is there a magic water temp that improves fishing? Still fishing points with deeper water around them? Tree tops? Thanks for any info, would like to try a little more fall fishing this year. Tried deadsticking last winter with poor results, thought the fall may get me warmed up or cooled off as the case may be. Thanks Brad

Fall and winter is my favorite time to fish Buch. My go to spots is humps and ridges in 25-35ft. As far as downrigging goes as long as it keeps getting over 100 they will work. That being said I know a few guides that downrig year round. And the topwater bite is getting better and better right now!!!

Thanks Brandon. Is topwater bite at sunrise and sunset only? Will pencil poppers and super spooks work or should I use soft plastics? Brad

Does the shad bite ever slow down or is it consistent year around?

On the topwater bite I usually throw pencil popper just because I can launch it. Also a chatterbait is a good as well as a redfin. The shad bite last yr round but in the hot months its hard to keep them. I have an oxygen tank to help keep them frisky in hot months.

Well it was a slow Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning of fishing. Saw two local guides down rigging on Wednesday morning. We tried down rigging mid lake east and west sides in 25-35'. We also had some great looking shad we soaked in the same places and a couple of other spots. To say we were skunked would be an understatement. Still better than a day at work. Til next time.

Tuesday pm Lake was like glass and we saw no schooling at all. Wednesday with a slight chop we saw two small schools about the size of a pickup bed at mid day in the shaw island area.
