I purchased a boat, from an individual, but through a dealer. Previous owner was a Mercury Pro team member and said he could get me extended warranty at a good price. I agreed to it and sent him the money in April. He keeps blaming Mercury for taking so long, and then says he finally has the paperwork. Unfortunately hes never sent it to me and a check wit Mercury shows the warranty still expiring in November of 18. I finally asked for a refund and he agreed. Supposedly sent the check three weeks ago, but I still dont have it. He even texted me a photo of the copy. I realize that doesnt mean he ever mailed it.

Just wondering what my options are. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask. Mgfan58

I roll this way...........I don't believe anything I hear and only half of what I see.

People will tell you whatever they need, to get where they need to go/get your money etc.

You didn't buy a boat from a dealer, you bought a boat from a guy that fishes a lot if I had to guess and flips boats cause he gets a better deal than you do.

I can't believe he could get that much better deal on extended warranty than you could,

I have a bridge, really good deal.

Don't be so trusting.

Go track the guy down, get your money for the warranty back, chalk it up to experience and get your boat fixed.

Thanks, Billy

People are bad, call him out on social media and it will ruin his rep and/or get you paid for what you deserve.

Same thing as going to court just cheaper

I do believe some of the pro staffers can get a better deal on extended warranties, I would never buy one, all you are doing is paying to fix something in advance, get your money back from the guy. I would not drag the guy through the coals on social media unless it was the very last option I had, sure can do a lot of damage to a reputation, hopefully he sees this and takes care of it.

Ask for another check. He can void the original.

Three years of extended warranty for $1,800-$2,000 after the original three years expire is a helluva deal. Ever had to replace a powerhead? Plus it's fully transferable which adds a bunch of value to resale. Price boats with and without warranties.

Well I was quoted over 3K per year for mine, I told them to pound sand, if it was such a great deal how would they stay in business ? Put it this way, I have purchased about 16 boats over the past 33 years, never once have I needed extended warranty, maybe it is because I have never had one that had expired warranty, lol, actually I have had a couple, those Mercury racing engines only carry a two year warranty, if you can get 3 years for 2K then that is a no brainer.

Pretty sure that's what I paid for my last YES warranty from Yamaha. But I had a great dealer...Fun-n-Sun.

I have a Mercury, maybe they are more proud of their warranty, I would have bought it too for that amount.
