I have always gone to Grapevine but have recently been going out to Joe Pool just to change things up a little. I dont know the lake very well at all. On Grapevine I am typically using live perch and shad. I havent found the shad on joe pool but used perch a couple of weeks ago there and ha no luck. I know there are a million factors at play but Im planning to go back in a couple of weeks and if anyone has any advice specific to that lake it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I know this isn't what you're asking for but my advice is to go back to Grapevine. Is there a reason you switched to Joe Pool?

Just a change of pace. I like to try different spots occasionally and didn't know if it was even a good lake for fishing or not. I never hear much about it.

Used to work at marina and fished Joe Pool on occasion. Most catfish and other species tend to be small and under limits due to lack of nutrients, per TP&W. 2nd lowest in state. Has become mainly a recreational boating lake. Suggest you stay with Grapevine or other lakes for better catches unless you just want to get on the water and drop a line while relaxing.
