THIS THIS THIS!!! The only people "piling on" are the ones with a little common sense and business ethics,PERIOD. Sorry if this offends the bean counters out there. It takes a long time to gain credibility in business and just a short time to screw it up. When you show an attitude of "HOORAY FOR ME, SUX BEING YOU", that pretty much says it all. Yea Chris I got a little carried away on that one. I just hate this piling on BS by these hacks. It would seem they would have something else to do. You cashed quite a few yourself. Ever had one go bad? Plus Im a lucky SOB as you know. You seem to be a pretty good ole boy, almost certain it was you that won a boat on Hubbard Creek a few years back, let me ask you a hypothetical, say that boat certificate you won was not able to be redeemed, so you call the tournament director and ask what the deal is, the tournament director tells you " well the boat company is supposed to give you the boat, maybe in 2 or 3 months they will make good on the deal " how would you feel about that or what would you do ? Who would you hold responsible ? The tournament trail or the boat manufacturer ? I am sure Gordon is a good guy, I have fished many of their tournies, never had a problem ( well there was a plaque deal that was messed up ). There has been some piling on here, but the bottom line is Gordon could have and should have nipped this in the bud the very day he learned about it, that is what 90 % of the posters are saying. To let 3000 dollars possibly wreck a business is asinine. This will not keep me from fishing a Media event, I just hope there are still some to fish. Funny you should go there. I fished a tourney at PK in 1984 I think that had a new Skeeter boat and trailer as 1st place. I won. After weigh in the guy putting on the tournament pulled me to the side and quietly told me that he messed up and didnt put that the boat was based on 200 entrys on the tournament flyer. I got 2k . I was really mad. I also worked in the biggest tackle shop and boat dealer in the state so I had a pretty good platform to talk from. After some thought I figured that the only thing I would accomplish would be to possibly ruin a mans business and I still wouldnt have a boat. So I just sulked around for a few days and went on. As far as this deal, yes it sucks but Gordon has told the guys he is working on it and will eventually get them taken care of. What has happened to giving the guy the benifit is the doubt? Gordon doesnt have any type of reputation of ripping people off and he has been running Media for 20 years. The very few guys in the past that had a problem all got taken care of. Gordon doesnt want this to happen and from what I know of him he is not a liar. If his lawyer told him he had to wait that is case Im am sure. Ill bet just about anyone that hires a lawyer on something listens to him. Why else hire a lawyer. Dont forget he got ripped off also. I am a small business owner and I know a lot of other members are. Most of us would be lying if we said we never have gotten into a business situation that forced us to make someone hang on until we got a problem worked out. I am thankful that when that has happened to me my customers gave me the benifit of the doubt and bore with me as long as I stayed in touch. I cant imagine one going into the internet or writing all of my other customers and bashing me before I could make good. If I said I would make good on the deal like Gordon has. It is easy for all of us to say if it was my business I would have paid as soon as the guy called but this is t happening to you guys so it is just talk. Give the guy a chance. The internet is a powerful tool that can hurt a business or product. Like many other threads I read everyone on here is piling on in a matter that doesnt have any effect on them. You arent helping the OP out any he is going to get paid either way. But you might run a guy that has had a 20 year business out by piling on. Again over 3000.00 that has zero effect on you. A guy that has been around longer than any Trail I can think of and hundreds of us have enjoyed the competition and his tournaments. I guess it makes some people proud that they might have the power via the keyboard to hurt someone. Your right happy camper, I am a good old boy that always gives a guy the time to make his word good. I know Gordon will make good on this and I hope the people that have enjoyed fishing his events in the past keep it up. He has always offered the weekend guy an affordable opportunity to fish competitively. Im out on this thread and I know Imwont change many minds but I hope for all your sake if you ever find yourself in these shoes you fare better than Gordon has. Peace out . If you are truly a business owner as you say, then you should know the right thing to do is take care of your paying customer immediately or risk them never doing business with you again. I have insurance for these exact situations as all small businesses that are run correctly should. That small amount of money is not worth the hit your reputation will take and the lost dollars from current customers and potential customers.

Huckleberry, I do know Media is in other states. Have you ever met Gordon ? If your lawyer told you to stand pat would you disregard what he said. I will say this again. The piling on is a total embarassment. Again, most have never met or had dealings with him. You dont stay in business for over 20 years by not doing people right. This whole bashing Media and Gordon had given me a lot of insight to many individuals on this Forum. But once again I'm sure all of the TFF keyboard lawyers know more then real lawyers. Once again I'm sure all the TFF detectives know the real truth. And once again the TFF keyboard mind readers know the real truth also. Many on here with what they have posted have shown way less class then Gordon with there comments. Yes I have met him, chit chat with him at a few different events (LBJ lake was the last time) and he seems to be a really good dude.

Anyone who disagrees with you is a keyboard warrior, a terrible person, doesn't know Gordon, and is unworthy of your friendship. We got it. This made me chuckle

Listening to a lawyer and letting the system play out equals billing more hours so the lawyer can make more money. I wouldnt need a lawyer to tell me whether or not to pay the $3000 my business owed someone. Possibly use the lawyer to sue the TD though I'm sure thatll be a waste of money also.

I missed the part where Gordan said he has hired a lawyer or where he has said he will pay the winners at some point.

If you had kept up with this issue you would know that the OP discussed this with JP before he posted. He was not satisfied with Gordons song and dance. He gave Gordon 2 months to handle the issue before he went public. Its being discussed on Facebook by others as well. Again if you had kept with this issue you would know that others have issues getting paid going back to last year. Gordon was aware of this and took no actions in replacing the TD or closing the division. The chickens have come home to roost now. Media should be able to get past this. Most of us have short memories or just do not care. We just want to fish an honest tournament series and know that when we get a check it will clear. Media needs better PR at this time. I do not want to see them fold up. Hack away

Rangerkev, jpurdue, defending your friend is greatness, you just can't justify it. In what aspects of your life, do you or would you allow this to happen. Just sayn, I doubt you guys would. Yes, it is an embarrassment. You are correct, just not for the people on this forum. It's a darn SHAME for an organization to say, and I'll say it again, HOORAY FOR ME, SUX BEING YOU"

Why wouldn't Media Bass write a check asap to the Tourney Winner then deal with all of this BS themselves to recover money from the TD when this was first brought to his attention, before attorneys got involved??? I mean it's $2k, that's really not that much money to cause all this vs just covering it and handling everything himself, as Owner, to not shine this negative light on the organization....? I think thats the million dollar question on everyones mind. Im sure Media has a valid reason for waiting just not sure the guys who are owed their money agree. Could it possibly be this? As it stands now, the 2 (or more) individuals are basically being forced to chase the TD for the money. If Media paid those 2 (or more) individuals what's rightfully theirs (like they should), that would mean then that Media has to chase the TD that owes the money. Filing charges, attorney fees, etc.... to go get that money from the TD would be on Media then. If I was an attorney I would tell my client Media, "If you think your business can handle the negative publicity, let the individuals chase the TD through legal action, or..... pay those guys the $3,000, then you can pay me however much it costs to maybe get the $3,000 back from the TD" I've never had a tournament check bounce so I don't know what those 2 guys temperatures are, but if it happened to me, I don't think I'd have been as patient as them waiting 2 months before going public with it. I'm thinking after 1 or 2 phone calls with no resolution I'd have it out there for the world to see.

I'd be ticked off to if i was in the OP's shoes and I still did't have my check after 2 months. And I am glad he shared to make everyone aware bc they should be.

Ill say it again. ZERO GRAY AREA!! Gordon/media should have already solved this problem. You guys start talking about good guys, lawyers, legal questions etc. are just trying to muddy the waters. There is a crystal clear solution; 1.) Media write a check, 2.) deal with your employee/TD in court.

Just one more comment. If indeed the lawyer told Media boss to stand pat and don't pay, there's only one way that holds water. There would have to be something on the entry form stating that Media is not responsible, and cannot be held responsible for payouts. Say it ain't so. any how, good luck to the guys trying to collect their money. Oh, sorry jpurdue for missing the point on your post.
