Please can we just get back to, which rod for deep crankin or which lake with in 2 hours of dfw or what do you do when fishing boat lanes....... give this guy his money and let�s move on...

Just because you pay for advice from a lawyer doesn�t mean you have to follow it!!!!

Especially when the right thing to do is bite the bullet and pay the winners.

No matter how good his reputation has been...Gordon is hiding behind his lawyer�s stupidity to try and save $3,000.

I think I have this figured out, Gordon is a really fine man but a [censored] poor businessman. I hope they get it all worked out and everybody goes on down the road.

Just so I know what I�m getting into if I decide fish media bass tournaments.

1. Media bass checks pay outs are backed by the tournament director personal bank accounts?
2. What happens if the td takes my entry fee and doesn�t pay places?
3. Where does my membership fee go to?

My neutral part, outsider with no dog in the fight view:

1. Gary Youngblood is a scum bag that should be serving jail time for putting these anglers and Media Bass in this situation.

2. Media Bass and Gordon Stauffer are in the wrong here.

I dont blame Media Bass for trying to protect itself here as i am sure if Mr. Youngblood's check to the anglers bounced, Media Bass did not receive their cut either. However, telling all those involved that are being ripped off by Mr. Youngblood that they are out of luck and need to take it up with Mr. Youngblood or accept their losses is morally wrong.

These people did not pay to fish "Gary Youngblood's Bass Tournament" They paid to fish a "Media Bass Tournament" that Gary Youngblood ran. Like it or not Mr. Youngblood represented Media Bass, if Mr. Youngblood is going to run and hide like a criminal the moral onus falls on Media Bass to make it right. Like it or not Media Bass up to this point is NOT trying to make this situation right, but they are TRYING to avoid doing so.

I went to Media Bass's website to get an idea of the size of this company and from my point of view while it might hurt, they can afford to cover the debts Mr. Youngblood incurred while representing Media Bass.


Then it dawned on me... ( this is my personal opinion based on what I have surmised from the information presented to me) Media Bass has been around for 20 years? I feel confident in saying that with a company that has been around that long that this is not the first time this has happend. However, this is the first time for Media Bass to have its dirty laundry aired like this ( the power of social media and the internet). I will go out on a limb here and say that the way Media Bass handles its TDs and events they have done everything to legally protect them and avoid and legal recourse that these anglers might try to bring against Media Bass and put all the blame on the individual.

Lastly if Media Bass does anything for these guys it will be to try and save face from this public backlash, not because they intended to from the very beginning.

I didn't think I would write anything about this thread,but as I kept reading this it was like a train wreck,I couldn't look away.I have fished Media before,unlike I suspect a lot of the posters on here,I fished the west region a year ago and plan to fish this next year.I have nothing but good things to say about Tommy & Jason.Never had a ck bounce and my son & I collected several.Folks READ before you reply,Mr. Gordon never said the bounced cks would not be made right!The leagal system runs @ it's own pace and needs to run it's course and all you internet lawyers should have stayed awake during that class.There is a reason you hire a real lawyer for these matters,take their advice!I feel bad for the folks that got bad cks and I would be mad also,but I don't think they were told to go kick? dirt as someone stated.The man also didn't compare the situation to someones kid owes another some money,He said it was more complicated than that.Keyboard tough guys,internet lawyers and the like,if you don't want to fish Media don't,stay on the Elites and keep cashing those cks!Mi Dos Centavos

You do realize Media Bass holds events in other states right? Also, I've lived in Texas for many years and have fished many Media Bass events.

Why wouldn't Media Bass write a check asap to the Tourney Winner then deal with all of this BS themselves to recover money from the TD when this was first brought to his attention, before attorneys got involved??? I mean it's $2k, that's really not that much money to cause all this vs just covering it and handling everything himself, as Owner, to not shine this negative light on the organization....?

I think that�s the million dollar question on everyone�s mind. I�m sure Media has a valid reason for waiting just not sure the guys who are owed their money agree.

Huckleberry, I do know Media is in other states. Have you ever met Gordon ? If your lawyer told you to stand pat would you disregard what he said. I will say this again. The piling on is a total embarassment. Again, most have never met or had dealings with him. You dont stay in business for over 20 years by not doing people right. This whole bashing Media and Gordon had given me a lot of insight to many individuals on this Forum. But once again I'm sure all of the TFF keyboard lawyers know more then real lawyers. Once again I'm sure all the TFF detectives know the real truth. And once again the TFF keyboard mind readers know the real truth also. Many on here with what they have posted have shown way less class then Gordon with there comments.

It wouldn't be an issue on here if the OP hadn't posted it. No one would have been aware of the issue.
Obviously that TD will be a TD no longer and not create future problems like this.
Obviously the Media TDs that run good tournaments will still have turn outs ie: Tommy.
You know as soon as you put something like this out into the social media air waves it will take on a like of it's own

why wouldn't the OP just handle it himself with Media ? Obviously he wanted to take it to the next level,,,,which by the way is his prerogative,,,,, to be sure that he got his moneys worth.

Cutting/Pastimg the same �legal analysis� doesn�t make it right, either. This is the court of public opinion, and evidence has been presented. People are expressing their frustration with decisions that have been made that could/should have been handled differently! It�s obvious that you are friends with one of the parties involved. Maybe you are the one that is seeing the evidence that has been presented throug the rose colored glasses of your friendship.

Maybe he will �make it right�, maybe he won�t. Maybe Media will survive, maybe it won�t. Thus far the evidence of certain individuals being of utmost integrity isn�t there.

Evidence, all the jury of the public can work off of, you�ll never �know� everyone. The opinion that �knowing� someone gives them the exclusive right to comment on a situation or make decisions where to invest their time and money in the future is putting one�s head in the sand.
