I will add one point to Matt’s video above. When cutting the arm shorter, I suggest you make the 90 degree bend downward (toward the bait) where you want it FIRST, then cut off the excess wire that points down. This way there is zero chance of cutting the wire too short.

I prefer War Eagle brand buzzbaits. I have used a lot of buzzbaits but these seem to be the best I have run into. Also don't be afraid to go big and by a double blade buzzbait. Picasso makes a great double buzz.

Lunker Lure. Went through a couple one day and only had a Booyah left. Bite stopped.

Absolutely use a softer tip (MH) rod, mono because it floats and is more forgiving, wait longer to set the hook.

almost always use braid because of where i'm fishing it (stumps, pads, heavy weeds). i do use heavy mono if none of that stuff is present, but very rare that it's not. as i've gotten older, my reaction time is not what it once was, so no real problem about sticking them too early!! another advantage of getting older....

Lunker lure all the way
Get them squeeking and let them roll This! 1/2 oz Lunker Lure Take it out of the package, roll down the window as you drive to the lake, hold onto it tight as you get about 3 miles from the ramp. Good to go! I use these as well. I also really like the Damiki's. I hate to use a trailer hook because it alters the performance of the bait and for some reason the Damiki's have a really good hook up ratio without a trailer hook and they have a unique sound that drives em crazy.

My favorite buzz bait of all time was the Squeaky Dolphin by Reaction Innovations but they don't make them any more. I luckily have 6 left. I've seen them sell on eBay for $50+ each.
