stripping off about 20 feet of line and cutting it, then winding it back in on somebodys rattle trap rod is always highly entertaining. it's amazing how far a trap can fly when the line is no longer rubbing the guides!

You guys are ruthless. I think he said "funniest", not "cruelist".
The funniest thing I did was on a really nice day. I was killing them with a top water popper. My son, 25 y/o, noticed but didn't have one. He asked if I did. I said, give me your line, and I hooked him up. Thing was, it had no hooks. On his first cast, a LMB smashed it. and he missed it. Two casts later, another smash. That's when he noticed.
At the time, we was a bit annoyed. By the time we left, he was laughing too.

Our club was fishing a top 6 tourney one year. My friends dad Ron, was always pulling pranks on everyone so we figured it was payback time. A few days before the tournament, I went to one of those gag gift stores and bought what looked like chapstick, but when you put it on it turned bright pink. I gave the chapstick to Ron's best friend and he starting talking up how good this new chapstick was and how chapped Ron's lips looked, ect. So he gave Ron the chapstick and he proceeded to smear it all over his lips, I think some even got in his beard and mustache. Then I handed Ron our fish to go weigh in. We watched as he went thought the weigh in line and guys were laughing their A$$ off, then he got on stage and the weigh master says something about how prutty the lips on those fish were and guys in the crowd were rolling. By this time, he is the only one in the place that doesn't know what's going on. He comes back to our group and we all walk away like we don't know him, but we were laughing so hard he knew something was up. He went over to his truck and looked in the side mirror and immediately starting coming after his friend that handed him the "chapstick". Luckily he could take it as well as dish it out, so it didn't come to blows and after a few beers we all had another good laugh. He still hasn't lived that one down.

Crapped on his powerpole while it was halfway down. Then when he pulled it up later it was starting at him. Good times.

A buddy and I were on fayette years ago on a sunny day. Given the history of skin cancer in my family I always carried the newest strongest soft whatever and wore it relogiously.
I put on bullfrog spf 50 lotion on my face and neck and toss the bottle to my buddy who does the same......about the time we look at each other I bust out laughing so bad it hurts....he does the same....
The stuff would not rub in.....we were both fishing in full pancake white face kabuki/mine makeup...
We laughed so hard we our eyes were watering.....then the sunscreen got in our eyes and burned like hot sauce in the eyes.....
We were both scrambling for water bottles to flush our eyes, falling all over the boat bc we couldnt open our eyes without it burning....badly....
We must have looked like complete idiots.....we laugh about it to this day

I've fished with the same team tournament partner for about 40 years, and before that we played baseball, basketball, and football against each other through high school on opposing small town teams. It's always been a fishing competition between us, and a competition to pull the best prank. I don't appreciate ANY of his pranks, but probably the best I pulled on him was before take off, in the dark waiting for safe light on a brutally hot summer day. I got the sunscreen out and sprayed myself down and handed him the Bang Garlic. Smelled like spaghetti the rest of the day.

A friend of mine was a pretty good fisherman, and back in the late 70s, worked for Ray Scott as a Bassmaster staff writer. As such, he was frequently called to take 'newbies' out bass fishing. He had one 'such guy out on a day that the bass were aggressively hitting T-rigged worms. He was catching them steadily, while the guy in the back seat couldn't even recognize a fish 'tapping' his worm. My buddy knew this from watching the other guy's line and rod tip. He started to hold his line above the reel and quietly whistle a few notes every time he felt a fish. The back seat guy finally asked about the whistling, and my friend simply said something like, "I'm calling up the fish. I'm holding my line so the whistle vibrations will travel down his line to the worm." It took many bass and about an hour before my buddy was no longer able to keep from laughing out loud. By the time they got back to the dock, they were both laughing hysterically. Good times on the water. The newbie never did catch a bass that my friend hadn't first "called up," hooked, and then handed the rod to the newbie.

Hit her on the forehead with a 10 oz pyramid sinker while surf fishing at Cape Point at Cape Hatteras around 1985. Knocked her down onto her knees. it wasn't funny to her.

Ive been fishing team events for 22 years with the same partner. Need less to say we are best friends but also can get on each others nerves. Well I dont get on his but he gets on mine. Over the years I have cannonballed our behind him in a tournament, slide off the boat once and swam to bank, he kind of panicked when he looked over his shoulder and I was gone. After 22 years there are a lot more stories. And there will be more in the future for sure.
Retirement best job ever.

I saw Jimmy Houston pull the "bucket trick "on one of his shows in the early years and never forgot it.My son's and I were in Cabo fishing. Clay had got really sunburned the previous day and was below deck not feeling well. His turn on the rod was next. I told the first mate to tie a five gallon bucket onto a rod we were trolling and let it back out.His brother and I began yelling "fish on'.Clay comes running out from below deck and gets in the fighting chair and the fight began ! We asked him if it was a big one..."Oh Yea". Is it fighting hard?..Hell yes". We were laughing so hard behind him. He finally gets about 200 yards of line in and sees the bucket in the water and stands up to get a better look. Realizing now that he has been punked he throws the rod down and storms off back below deck cussing all the way. We all laugh about it till this day.

Caught an armadillo and put it in side his tent in on a 2 day tournament. That was just before dark. I had forgotten about it while having beverages around the camp fire. He had gotten all the way in his sleeping bag before it started rooting around in the corner. The look on his face was priceless in front of about 8 other fishermen.
Also foul hooked a water snake and tournament swung it up on the back deck next to the same guy. He went swimming in February.
There are more.....

My buddy is a big guy, a lot of the time when he bends over to re tie lures or to get something of the deck his butt crack seems to stare at me, so I've made it a habbit to keep my old soft plastics near by... nothing better than watching him jump up as the lure slaps his butt crack
