Found a rock pile today about 4 feet tall in 20 fow on the end of a point with creeks ok either side of the point. Perfect set up I would think. Marked a few fish but not a lot of bait. The pile is pretty big so I fished it for about 45 minutes and caught 1 flathead catfish weighing about 8 pounds. My question is: does this spot have potential to hold fish. I figured if the catfish can live and eat there so can bass. Or is it a waste of time?

Total waste of time. Send me waypoint and I will confirm. roflmao
In all seriousness, it depends. Might be a timing thing, thermocline thing, or a multitude of other things. I would definitely keep it in my rotation.

This is dead on. Keep going back at different times during the day. Change you angles of presentation. Position the boat on the shallow side and fish up hill.

Definitely something to keep an eye on. You never know when they might be there and it sounds like a place that could hold some big ones

Depends. On some bodies of water could be a goldmine, and others a ghost town. Just remember you cant make fish be where they dont want to be no matter how good it looks.

All good info. This could be an exceptional spot, especially if the rest of the area has no cover or good features.

keep checking it. I found a similar spot on RayBob 3 weeks ago. Not a bite the first three times i fished it. Fourth time, we pulled 5 fish between 3.5-5lbs.

Sometimes water levels will dictate when and how fish use those rock piles. That is one variable on Rayburn that determines when some of those offshore structures get used.

Sounds like all the right elements for greatness. I have deployed more brush piles than I can truly remember. All types of materials.. the best all around for bass was a lucky deal, with willows and Christmas trees mixed over an area the size of a garage, it was great for about 5 yrs

I've done commodes refrigerator's, plastic , so on and so on. But, remember this and be prepared, not every drop you make will hold fish. I believe I've ruined decent spots by dropping brush on some
True deal..
