I know this is the catfishing area so it may not be the place for it but since I am mainly catfishing I figured I would ask others that are doing the same. I have a 20' pontoon that I fish out of and don't have much experience with this boat (I have always used a 16' Tracker Grizzly) and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on how they anchor their pontoon to stay still. I seem to drift quite a bit and I'm sure it's due to my anchor or length of line or something to that effect. This boat catches a lot more wind than I am used to having to fight so I'm kind of seeking ideas. Thank you

You need 2 anchors. I would recommend box anchors. You can either use 1 anchor on the front and 1 off the back. Or if its not too windy you can use both off the front (perpendicular to the boat) (a T shape) and pull against each other.
If you are fishing in shallow water you can use galvanized pipe pushed into the ground and tied off to the boat. 1 at the front and 1 at the back of the boat.

I dont have a pontoon but Ive fished with Vess who fishes out of one and he uses big box anchors on the front and back, most of the times he is fishing heavy cover and uses his front rope to tie off to a tree with the box in the back.

I always used the "T" method off the front in open water. I found it always held better than the front/rear method.

you have to make sure that you put out plenty of line. I use a digger anchor like the one above. If you don't have out a lot of line the wind will pull the anchor up and make it hard to stay still. Once set, you wont move.

No bigger than 17#. Heavier than that will hurt ya!! I always used the "T" method off the front in open water. I found it always held better than the front/rear method. These guys are spot on-
What has happed to you does not define who you are-
HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!
