I was thinking of mounting a water separating filter on my boat. I have a 2004 Johnson 115 fourstroke made by Suzuki.
It is electronic fuel injection.
I heard that if you put the filter between the tank and the motor you could have a performance issue on WOT.
What are your thoughts?
Any help is appreciated.

Never heard of any issues unless the filter is not spec'd for the proper fuel flow rate of the outboard. Buy a quality filter with the proper fuel flow and fuel line size and you should be fine. I personally use a Racor filter on my carb'd Johnson GT-150 which is known to be a fuel hog and have never had any issues.

Also if the fuel line has a primer bulb, the filter should be on the fuel tank side of the bulb so that when the bulb is pumped fuel is pulled through the filter instead of being pushed/forced through the filter.

No problem on mine, I did a Racor, this one.. https://www.amazon.com/Racor-120R-RAC-01...&dpSrc=srch

I've been there done the water problems and now try to use only ethanol free.

I use a 10 micron Racor on my etec and replace it every 100 hours when I do the lower unit. I would stay away from the cheapie filters.
