We have two fireplaces and this one is in our master BR and has always leaked during major storms. Our other fireplace in the family room has been fine. I'm tired of throwing money away on the leaking chimney...new flashing, built a cricket, and more.....no one has been able to repair it properly so it is coming down! Youre going to replace a leaky chimney with a leaky roof.

You’re going to replace a leaky chimney with a leaky roof. Once the chimney is gone, making roof repairs will be the easy part! No worries about that!

Why not just hook a tow strap to the back of your truck and the other end to your chimney.
Are you Kerry dugans neighbor? If so, then definitely follow my advice.
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

I did all the things you listed and turns out the brick was "absorbent" and was allowing a heavy rain to pass straight thru and then was running down the interior of the chimney and down some small hole and across the wood eaves to the patio. Got lucky I caught it before it rotted out the wood as well.
