Hey chuchu1 Watch the dang video. This is not me that had the rod break. it was my buddy and this was the first fish he caught with that purple all star rod lol. I watched the comedy video. Whoever broke the rods abused them and the land of fish reeled up to the tip and then lifted and held on the rod is the abuse. Period. End of discussion.
Snowflakes and entitled brats will be the doom of America!

When your buddy is landing fish he is reeling it way to close and then grabbing his rod in a bad place. This rod broke right where he grabbed it. That's operator error from misuse. Not the rods fault. If you highstick a rod it's going to break. Dont matter if its $5 or $500
I can backlash toilet paper.

Lol maybe y'all aren't getting what I'm trying to say. This rod broke on the first fish he caught on the hookset. Where am I losing y'all? This guy has been fishing a long time and on a few pro circuts back in the early 2000's. I think he can handle some dinks that we were catching but that's not the issue here. The issue is the quality of the rods this is the SECOND rod on 2 trips that have broke on the FIRST HOOKSETS of the FIRST fish with those rods. I very seriously doubt he is running them over in his truck before he throws a reel on just to drive 2 hours to the closest academy to exchange them. He picked up a Lews this time and has been pretty happy with it.

Some people just need to fish with 100% glass rods. Watching too many " Pros " highstick and abuse rods and blame the manufactures.

I “got” what you’re saying just fine and still don’t care. ....and therein is the issue with this thread. you presented your case in such a negative light to begin with ..... telling anyone that would listen NOT TO BUY a fishing product that many have had success with, albeit an inexpensive rod, it still has decent performance stats in previous versions. then you try to support your statement with a video that clearly shows the user of the pole using it in such a way as to effectively be a major cause of the pole breaking.......whether that be the actual case/cause or not. ...... how in the world do you expect anyone to care or listen / watch your argument and then give it any validity ???

All of my All Star rods are old ones.  I haven't bought any in years.

Picked up one yesterday, on sale, to replace the one that was broken by a DA(me) putting the rod in the bed of a truck next to a 40# anchor.

Had a Falcon Cara rod break in the same spot when loading up on the 1st back cast, took it back to Falcon and they said it could have been shipping damage or it must have been stepped on and replaced it on the spot.

I think what made me not care was playing pantera on a fishing video, talk about stupid. +1 That was an immediate turnoff for me too. Unfortunately this is all too common in bass fishing videos and some tv shows are like this now. I feel like I need to drink a 4-pack of Red Bull to follow along.

I was at Academy the other day and these purple rods were breaking just by looking at them.
