Does unsubscribing from each piece of advertising email you get really work, or does it just cause more. It's getting out of control!

I use one email address for anything that could lead to marketing emails, like when I shop on Amazon, Ebay, etc. The "regular" email address is the one I use for people I actually want to hear from (including doctors offices, TX licensing agencies, etc)

I always click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email. However if the link takes you to a site requesting you to fill in your email address don't do it.

One for work, one for ebay, Amazon, Walmart, and Paypal, one for bills, and one for family and friends. Makes life easier.

Reporting/marking them as spam works better than unsubscribing.

Any decent email provider should block 95% of all spam emails. I dont get more than 5 a month if that and I do a LOT of online activity and have for eons
To me, having multiple email addresses creates more problems then it solves

To me, having multiple email addresses creates more problems then it solves I think this actually worked finally for the AOL site. I've seen a huge reduction in spam since I kept filling up the "Spam" folder. There were at some times 500+ spam emails in the folder. This hits AOL in the "disk space" pocketbook. So they finally started to filter it better. Now only a few unwanted junk and spam emails. I didn't choose AOL either, Verizon pushed us there when Frontier took over.

i unsubscribe if its a legit company that i do business with and they just added me to receive marketing emails.
if it is pure unsolicited spam from some entity i have never heard of, then i never click anything on their email and block the address.

It seems to be working although the results take 10 days or more to notice. Each spam has multiple addresses and you have to unsubscribe to each one.

I dont use the unsubscribe feature. I mark it as spam and block the email address. I get a spam report once a week and at times it will have 200+ addresses that have been blocked.
