I hardly ever fish for stripers, but I understand the importance of this fishery for the town. I'm also aware of the blooms that occured years ago, which pretty much shut the guide business down and it seemed like the entire lake/town was "quiet" for a long time. Lately I'm seeing more activity on the lake as I drive over the bridge, seeing what appears to be several fishing boats as well. So...are the stripers back? Thank you for any comments.

There are more boats on the water this year. Unfortunately, the majority are wake boats or jet skies. Granbury is such a recreational lake which I dont understand because you can only run in a small marked river channel, especially from Indian Harbor to DeCordova. Having said that, striper fishing was incredible in April in the lights. Then it got hot.

There are a few fish still in the lights, mostly sandbass and crappie. Havent seen a striper since April.

Stripers are good to 15lbs on Granbury. Limits are common most days even in the heat. Try the indian harbor area and the lower ends. They are there!!

Stripers are back and have been pretty darn good since last year. Types of baits working... Slabs, big crank baits, topwater baits, and live baits will get the job done. Get out on the lake early and often and you should be able to find them without too much trouble.

Live shad is your best bet. Thetmocline is shallow on Granbury so fish just above the thermocline
