There is a large segment of our population that has the attitude that "I don't have to do anything if I don't want to". Some of those are the ones who get shot by LEO.

Y'know, there's a rational approach to standing up for your rights without escalating things. I don't agree with the idea that "If you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to hide" - you still have a reasonable right to privacy, even when you've been pulled over by a cop. I may not have anything to hide, but I still don't want my truck searched.

It's really simple - don't answer questions, but BE POLITE. Hand over license & insurance when asked. If the officer asks questions, respond with something like "Am I free to leave?" or "I don't wish to answer any questions, officer". If they ask to look in your vehicle, simply say "I don't consent to any searches". When they hand documents over, say "Thank you". If the officer had probable cause to stop you in the first place, they'll write the citation anyways, but at least you won't escalate things.

Odds are that the situation then won't involve a k9 being primed to sic ya.

But being argumentative, uncooperative and giving alot of attitude will almost surely escalate things to the point of the OP's scenario.

I�ve been on both sides of the law . I ALWAYS yes sir, no sir ,comply, answer questions , turn lights on if pulled over at nite and put my hands on the steering wheel where there visable . Never had an altercation or been takin to jail unless I was just straight up caught red handed or lost the foot race ...

What if you have nothing to prove? People can say anything to get there way. All a cop has to do to search your vehicle is say , I smell marijuana. They search find nothing and no consequence for them since they said they thought they smelled it. Just a public notice I don�t drink, smoke or do drugs. But I do believe that no one is a authority over me till I�m in front of a judge. Anyone who has a little way to screw with your life will. It�s the nature of so called authority

Do you show your receipt at Walmart when asked?

That's fine, you're being evasive and acting suspicious so you're being detained until the K-9 gets here. See how that works?

Much easier to comply and be on your way than be a roadside lawyer.

why cant everybody just forfeit their rights?? I mean we aren't allowed to use them so what good are they? really?
just do what ever the jackboots say and they may allow you to live one more day and as long as the sweet officer isn't harmed mentally or physically in any way so that they can return to their families to hell with your rights.

Do a ride out with an LEO sometime. Watch how respectful they are then watch the attitude that gets thrown at them. Like I said a good number of people talk themselves right into trouble.
