I am trying to sharpen my crappie catching skills and teach my daughter on how to catch them, so since I live close to Joe Pool, I was wondering if it's worth trying. Any help or tips are greatly appreciated.

It is but just like any lake, it takes time to learn. If you are wanting your daughter to catch a few and not looking for keepers the bridge is hard to beat. Right right below the cross members with minnows or right on the bottom and she should catch a few. Lots of smaller fish on the bridge but thats the easiest. If you are looking keepers, timber and brush is better.

Thank you sir for the tips. I will give it a try and let you know how I did. Do you know of a place that sells minnows on the Mansfield side. I will coming from Burleson and will be putting in at Llyod Park.

I agree with the previous statement. My friends and I have caught a lot of crappie on the bridges but a lot of smaller ones also. Get there in late Mar early April for more keepers. Check the timber on the west side of the lake. They're there just takes some time to find them. Use your electronics

I knew I was messing it up and couldn't remember the exact name, just sounded it out! Totally agree with the marina, unless you want almost dead, or dead minnows for some reason.
