Feels like a pure salary dump in exchange for a warm body or 2 to make it look palitable. Rollie Lacy looks to be a mediocre prospect at best.

As a Cubs fan, I like this move as I think Hamels was just in blah blah land playing for a team headed absolutely nowhere. What do you guys think, is he done or still has the stuff to be a #1 starter? His numbers are pretty atrocious for him, but I think that is a result of the environment around him. I am sure eventually you just stop caring when you have no chance of going anywhere.

As a Cubs fan, I like this move as I think Hamels was just in blah blah land playing for a team headed absolutely nowhere. What do you guys think, is he done or still has the stuff to be a #1 starter? His numbers are pretty atrocious for him, but I think that is a result of the environment around him. I am sure eventually you just stop caring when you have no chance of going anywhere. Very seriously doubt #1 starter on a playoff type team but capable nonetheless. I agree he has probably not been giving his best effort.

Until Bannister is gone the Rangers won't win anything. He is the worst manager in baseball.

I guess I mis-stated that, meant starting rotation, not #1 starter as the Cubs have Lester and Hendricks that would occupy that role before Hamels.

Hamels pro career has already peaked. He's on the downside moving south. He cannot hit his spots anymore. He tries to throw around the batters instead of attacking them and executing every single pitch. Although, I wish him well.
