Looking for a new deep cranking rod around 20+ ft range. Any suggestions for me to check out, not trying to get crazy expensive

Better define what's crazy expensive to you.

I've got a 7'11 Abu veritas I paid $99 for as a backup and now I throw everything up to an 8xd. Also falcon Bucoo 7'9 deep runner throws an 8xd and 10xd for $109

Mine is a bit more expensive, but it is a Dobyns rod, too. Are you wanting to include the 10XD? Or just the 8XD? If just the 8XD and shallower, the Dobyns 805 CB RM is the ticket (3/8oz. to 1.5oz.). If you want to go to 10XD, then the 806 CB rod is your choice. The 806 is THE deep cranking rod for me. It is rated from 1/2 oz to 2 oz. GREAT ROD, but would NOT be great for throwing a 6' CB. So, kinda depends on where you want to go with it. They are both $260, but man, are they GREAT cranking rods. Best I have ever fished with and that is saying something, for me. PM me if you want any more information about them. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Thad Rains I see why the 806 would be the preffered rod for the 806; but if you only throw the 10XD occasionally, would the 805 be able to handle it.

yes, I throw the 8 and 10xd on the 805CB RM. best cranking rod out there, imo.

For a higher budget, I too would recommend the Dobyns 805. 806 if you're really trying to hit 20+ routinely. For the range you are talking, I have never laid hands on one, but have a couple of reliable sources speak well of the Quantum Tour KVD Crankin 7'11 Heavy.

As stated above, the 805 can throw the 10XD, it is not IDEALLY matched to it, but it gets the job done quite well. If it is only sometimes you throw the big crank, I would go with the 805 CB RM. GREAT ALL AROUND rod for most CBs. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

i have 3 KVD quantum rods. if interested I'll sell them each for $75. PM me if you want pics. I have a 7'11"H, 7'4" MH. and 6'8"M. I throw big traps in grass in the fall with my 805CB RM, too! works great for long casts and ripping grass with 20# fluoro
