Cut bream or carp for juglines? Prefer shad but they don't freeze well,

I would go with carp if frozen. Fresh anything will probably outfish frozen though, when it freezes a lot of the liquids like the fats freeze out of the bait so it doesn't smell the same. Plenty of ponds rivers and creeks that have sunfish that are catchable from the bank the evening night or morning before the trip.

Put some chicken in the rotation and you may be surprised-
Just slice off some from thighs or drumsticks-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

Either one, man, use what you can get. I prefer salted bluegill, but it isn't like the catfish will pass up a nice chunk of carp drifting on a jug.

Think I'll try to keep them on ice by putting a couple of onion sacks on top of the ice to keep them out of the water from the melting ice.

Whichever one you can get and keep fresh or better yet alive.

I'd still go with the bream

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach
