Palomar for 99.9% of my knots. Never once failed. Thats what I usually tie and never really seemed to have a problem with it even on flouro... until recently. I broke off 3 fish in two trips and that doesn't happen very often, Idk if I've been tightening the knot down to much or what and Ive been putting a little spit on er before I tighten down. With the Palomar you have to make sure the double line through the eyelet is side by side and not crossed. If they are crossed on either side it will break.

Reverse cinch knot. It works best for me because I use 12# and under line. But I might have to revisit the line crossing issue with Palomar several have brought up.

If you pull the polomar mostly tight about 3 inches away from the bait, then wet it, and then cinch it down on the hook, it helps keep everything straight. I don't ever remember having a polomar fail.
See you on the lake and have a great day!

I've switched from the palomar to the fishin fool knot for everything...don't have to worry about the line crossing issue, and it works for tying lines together. Even lines of different types and test.
It's also the knot that proved the strongest in the knot wars series.

Google Berkley Braid Knot. It's the only knot I tie for all types of lines, other than a loop knot or a uni knot. But for tying to the hook or bait eye, learn to tie this knot. It's the only one you will ever need and it will not break. Hate to have to tie that when it's windy or in the dark. I can tie a Palomar in the wind, at night and has never failed. If I'm using braid I simply double the knot before I pass the lure through the loop. But to each his own. I can tie it with my eyes closed.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

Been using a Palomar knot since the mid-70s. Still do for everything but braid. Trilene knot for that, Alberto knot between line and leader.
