I would like to send a big thank you to the two guy's that help me out today removing a hook from the side of my hand. Hope they are part of TFF. They where in a Skeeter on Fork yesterday afternoon. I know People will help when needed again thank or my trip would have been shortened.

I was getting something out of my cooler and had some lures hanging from the side and when I went to get up my hand went right by the hooks hanger there and bang it got me.

Lets here some of your stories about the dreaded hook stories

I was fishing out of my kayak and caught a nice 2.5 pounder with a Whopper Plopper. When I got her into the yak she slipped out of my hand and began to flop around. The rear hook got me and she was still flopping with the front hook in her. It became pretty exciting pretty quickly! Luckily, I was able to get the hook out myself.

I buried an 8xd hook in my calf a couple years ago. It buried to the bend of the hook when I stepped off the front deck. I was by myself and a long way from the boat ramp. I started pulling on it with my needle nose pliers trying to see if I could work it out somehow but no luck. I decided I was just gonna close my eyes and give it a good yank. i Took the hook off the lure so I didn�t get another one in me when I pulled it. I didn�t have anything to cut it so I had to remove it from the split ring. That was a chore but I eventually got it off. I grabbed the hook right against the skin and pushed down as hard as I could hoping to free the barb some. I closed my eyes, counted to 3 and yanked. To my surprise it pulled right out almost painlessly. It bled a little but not much.

Happened again just last week. 2 lber(always the little ones...) had the middle hook solid in its tongue so I grabbed it behind the head and as I was using my pliers to unhook it the tail hook got me. Was going to push it thru but it was in the bendy part of the thumb so seemed like it was caught on something that I didn't want to tear so used the braided line trick and it worked! Hardest part was getting the hook cut off the split ring so I'm def going to buy a better pair of cutters!

Boga is your friend. Possibly the best fishing product I've ever bought.

It's always the little ones that getcha. Watch Youtube and see how the line trick pops the hook out. I have performed this many, many times on folks (and myself) over the years. It works extremely well.

OUCH! I've been fortunate enough to never been hooked like that but years ago I had a small fish jab a treble hook into my second hand wrap around float tube, not much room on it for flopping fish. Luckily the leak was slow enough for me to kick myself back to shore.

Happened on Lake Georgetown in the north coves near Russel park, I was fishing the tall rocky cliffs I use to float tube fish there quite often.

I stumbled upon a giant school of decent hybrids on Palestine Friday evening after the storms. Second fish, this happens. Good thing it was a small hook, because it bottomed out at the bend.


I thought about trying the line trick, but with the location and the fact I recently went on blood thinners; I decided to let the experts try. When I got to the ER, the doc was a fisherman himself. He took a look and said he didn't think the line trick would have worked either. They tried covering the barb with a needle and pulling it out to no avail. Finally poked it back through and cut the barb. Good thing I use sharp hooks.

Right before the incident, I had a voice in my head tell me "You better get the pliers for this one." Being in a hurry to get back to the action, I did not. Moral of the story...listen to that voice in your head. It's pretty intelligent.

I�ll see your one and raise you one. By myself last night just before dark. The ER and four hours later they were out.

That's the one that I dread, I know it's coming some day. I can handle one hook by myself, with two you are in a bind.

Knock on the closest piece of wood you can find. I went almost 30 years without the one and have had 4 in the last 3 years. I had 2 on back-to-back weekends. Fish was still attached on 2 of them. All 4 were less than 2 lbs.

Yikes! More than 1 hook and in the same finger... jerk trick won't work there I wouldn't think.

I thought the dr. would cut the hooks in the bend and push them through. Nope. She cut them in the bend and pulled them out the same way they went in. The hook on the right took quite a bit off pulling and twisting to get it out. I thought we were going to have to use a come along.
