Went to a local creek for a little fishing. Got there at 11 fished till 12:45 then it got too hot. The first hour the bite
was great, getting hit just about every cast. Once it got to 12, the bite really slowed down. Spent the last 45 minutes moving around trying to find something willing to bite before giving in to the call of the AC. All fish caught on a size 8 hook, corn for bait under a bobber. Managed to get a few pics. Not a 100% sure but guessing these guys are bluegill/greenie hybrids. Maybe some of you guys know.

I love fishing those small creeks, especially in the heat of the summer, as they are usually very shady. I often wade them with the fly rod. There a quite a few around the Austin area to explore. I plan on trying a few this year. The fishing usually slows down significantly by 11 AM on the bigger lakes or rivers but I can often keep catching fish in the heat of the day in those shady areas of the creeks.

Enjoyed the post.
