Ok, I keep reading about all the sandbass and hybrids you guys are catching and you have got me interested. I typicaly go for large mouth but I need something with a little more frequency to keep the wife and kid entertained. I am gogin to Tawakoni for the weekend and staying at the state park. Can you give me some advice on how to find them, good spots, what to look for, best baits etc...Not asking for any honey holes or top secretes but I don't want to spend the entire day running the lake to look for them. Thanks

I haven't been to Tawakoni yet this year, but reviewing my logs of the last 2 years I have some suggestions:
White bass should be on the hump at finger point. Stripers should be north of 2 mile bridge at Greenville Pump Station. Hybrids should be at Sun point and on humps in front of Holiday Marina.
I would also suggest, using live shads on Ray Hubbard on humps at Robertson Park.
Enjoy your weekend!

TBS - We have been catching pretty good hybrids and sandbass at Tall Man Reef and about 400 yards out from Holiday Marina. We limit out everytime we out there. We limit out on Hybrids yesterday evening in about 30 minutes with 3 people. Hybrids are everywhere right now at 12 to 20 foot of deep.
Hope this help, I don't know all the points or coves name.

can't go wrong with the hellbender/pet spoon
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I keep hearing about these hellbender/pet spoons. What are they? It is a hellbender lure with a pet spoon behind it. Very good combo for sandies.
Yes I did admit defeat. Good job back to back champion

No. I out a 3/4 ounce bell sinker on the front eye. I then take the back spiiner off and tie about a 4 foot leader there, then the pet spoon.

Well I have to give my thanks to Brandy Jack, KrazyFish, and Kodys'papa for some good advice. I took off for Tawakoni late Friday afternoon and set up camp at the state park. Got on the water about 7:30 Saturday Morning and instantly started catching fish at Finger Point. Between me, the wife, and the boy, I figure we caught 50 fish. Called it quits about noon and went back out around 5:00. Nothing at Finger Point that afternoon, so we headed towards the Dam. Started fihing the hump along with 10 other boats and got on them again. Probably got around 40 and quit at dark. The wife caught the largest of the trip which made her real happy. Went back out this morning around 8:00 and went back to Finger Point and got on some nice size ones. I kept count this time. The three of us caught over 150 fish in three hours. Unbelievable!!! I have always been a largemouth man but this has converted me. We caught the majority of them on a fat-free shad crank bait. Thanks for the info. Definately made the best fishing weekend I have ever had.
