I love my talons. The downfall is they are heavy. But I also have the 15s. Mine did squeak a little but I sprayed them down with some dry lube and they are super quiet now. I've caught quite a few more fish due to them since I've had them

I have 12 foot Talons that I bought before the Ultrex. I hated the way that the 10 foot PPs looked, and wanted more holding depth than the 8 footers provided. That being said, a 12 foot talon really only holds in 10 foot of water (depending on bottom type). For the most part, the Talons have worked out for me.

Now that I have an Ultrex, I think 8 feet of holding depth would be more than enough, and so I would certainly consider 8 foot PPs.

I've never had PPs, but what I can say about my Talons is that they are noisy and with the fold down mounts, just look really bulky on the back of my boat. They're also in the way for a backseat partner.

If you think you need to hold in 10 plus water then your only option is Talon ( if you do not have an Ultrex ) If you can do with under 10 feet of holding depth then I think the PP is the best selection, I have 8 foot PP.s and an Ultrex, I good to go.

I have Talons and they have worked well. Been in many other boats with PP and they worked equally as well. I would say go with what you can get cheapest. Not sure there is any one benefit of using one versus the other.

Both poles are way to intrusive. They get in the way unless you fish way up front all the time. I prefer the Ultrex. Sure, the poles lock you on a spot and you don't move, but the Ultrex is good enough plus you get a lot more features for the same amount of money. Get the Ultrex.

you don't have poles do you? when you're shallow and want to hold, you want to hold without the trolling motor prop washing the area.

I would agree if you can only get one of the other, I am like Deon Sanders, " I want both " you may be too young to remember that commercial.

Talons hold better, and are easier to install. I lost count on the number of boats with power poles that have floated away during tournament weigh in. My boat with 2 12' talons never budges. especially with "windy" mode enabled.

I have 10 ft poles and recently added Ultrex. I would never give up my poles . The Ultrex is nice but can't hold the boat when beached while loading and unloading. I fish alone.

In a few years power poles and talons will be so retro on bass boats. Spot locking trolling motors are just gonna get better and make this kind of equipment obsolete and a fad

I just got a new boat with PP 3 months ago. My boat also has an Ultrex. I have only used the PP at the ramp while loading and unloading and a couple times to beach the boat. I am already thinking of taking them off and selling. I guess I should give them a year so I can have them during the spring months when the fish are shallow. If you are a shallow water fisherman I can see how they are beneficial, right now they are just in the way.
