Got my PB (10.10) last year off the corner of a dock at Weatherford.

cc is a older lake with many boat docks, water level up and down a lot. i love boat docks on lakes like this. it take time on the water, but a few inches of depth means everything. i may fish 1,2,3 docks in row and idle down a few, also looking for depth, drop offs, points, brush, bait fish, but don't cut off other fishermen. i love fishing creeks and deep timber, but many lakes don't have them. i lived on eagle mountain and now fish cypress springs a lot. caught many nice fish off boat docks. low water level and blue bird sky, biggest problem. scouting and putting time in always helps.

Catch, do you have a place on Cypress Springs? I do and spend a lot of time fishing there.

Book a trip with James Biggs if you think there's no consistency with fish on docks!

But he said there aint no fish on docks... lol

James and I go way back. I learned a ton from him on fishing slips, but I dont recall us ever spending much time on dock fishing. Im sure some of the same principals apply, but definitely still different.

Place your bait in areas that the average bass fisherman would not flip in , I stay away from corners , ladders etc , these places have been saturated , I violently skip the bait where its a guarantee of getting hung , let it sit , twitch it little , whatever it takes . No takers , move on .

Skip a Chatterbait or Swimjig fish them fast, & cover enough of them to stumble into a school of fish. Many times Ive had a limit out of 1 slip.

Never had confidence in fishing docks. Then went to Cedar Creek when our wives were in Canton to scout it out before Bud Light championship.

Fished all day for a couple fish.

Saw an older gentleman at the dock and he told us to only fish docks the next day. Said if you fish 50 without a bite, fish 51. Only takes 1 dock to make you right.

Next day we only fished docks. Dont remember how many we fished but we caught fish at 5 or 6.

1 month later we caught fish at those same 5-6 docks.

So not too enjoyable if on new lake cause you have to rule so many out. But once you have an idea of which ones produce, its a fun way to fish.

It is not uncommon to see 10-12 boats fishing my dock, per day. It's 7:55 am Sunday morning and the 3rd boat is leaving now. I can't help but wonder what impact the high traffic rate has. I'm in the last sub-division before you go up Caney Creek.

I have liked fishing open water more the past couple of years,
but before I got deep water confidence I used to and still do Fish docks ! They are great places for Fish to hide and can be predictable especially during the summer.
On some lakes you will have a set of docks that will always hold Fish . My favorite way to fish them is with a 1/2oz Hvy. Finesse jig.
