Need the sage advise of the venerable Royal Order of the OT Section. I'm seeking suggestions for ways to safely automate the water flowing from the top tier of this water table (see video). In other words, we want water to pour down without us having to manually scoop & pour the water. I brought and tried a garden fountain pump, but you had to put that pump into the water in the bottom tier (where boy plays with water), and the warnings and cautions on the box gave me pause. Also tried an aquarium pump. No good.

This is my only grandson, so the Key word is "safely."

Thoughts?

Get a 12 volt battery operated bilge pump. Cheap ones available at Northern Tool or Harbor Freaght. Put battery in a battery box with a sealed top so terminals are out of harms way.

Or a livewell pump if you don’t want the pump in the water

Get the kid a small bucket and teach him to refill it. That's how my girls play with theirs.

This might work if you could figure out how to tie it up or something to keep it standing, it moves quite a bit of water(2.6gal/minute) using 2 D-cell batteries. It can be bought for $14 + $8 shipping from canada at: http://www.leevalley.com/us/garden/page.aspx?p=75226&c=2

or this one a lot like it from amazon (up to 3 gal/min) using 2 AA batteries for $24. https://www.amazon.com/TERA-PUMP-Po...ords=battery+powered+water+transfer+pump
