Had another impressive morning. Just fished my swim bait over main lake points and flats. The numbers were low but the size was large. Looked at eight bass between 5 and 8 pounds. And about 10 between 2 and 4 pounds. All on that wake bait. I try to keep my boat in 25 to 30 feet waking that giant bait on the surface. They come out of that blue water and crush it. This is the same bait we won the Bass Champs here a few years ago on. It is hard to believe a bass will come out of 25 ft with 2 ft waves to hit a top water bait but they do. When fishing that bait sometimes I will look at the depth and say to myself what are you doing then one will eat it as a reminder.
Thanks,
Ray

Pardon my lack of knowledge, but we do not have clear water where I am at. What kind of wake bait are you using? Is this like a swim bait, or is it different? I will be at Amistad this weekend and would not mind trying some swim baits or other things that we do not mormally do on our home lake. Thanks.

I fish several swim baits right now the surface swimmers are working well. Strike king's King kong, Cotton cordell's red fin,
Baby e, and lucky craft's jointed wake bait. Just slow roll them where they put off a wake on the surface.

Thanks for the information. I think I will try that while I am there.

Ray: Do you use those swim baits at Falcon? I haven't tried it yet, but wonder if it would be as productive there?

The wake baits might not work as well due to the off colored water, but the sinkers do work over the deep structure like rock piles, points and the dam.
