Emailed tpwd but I suspect it'll be next week some time before I get an answer. Do they monitor bs buoys tossed out by homeowners

I'm assuming they're the governing body on non corps lakes so that's who I should consult

I don't 'know'. That was kinda the point.
I suspect that to be the case because I've fished the lake for years and some random markers showed up with no rational need. It makes me wonder and I'd like it removed rather than randomly idling to be courteous (or receiving a ticket). It's common for people to chuck them off the end of their docks or whatever which can just be ignored but in this case it's a navigation issue. Or hell may be legit. I just want to find out.

The three new ones at dunlap specifically. Theyre not new I just been going out there a lot recently and remember when they got dropped in. There was one then two then four and they really make the most sense out of all them. But Austin, inks, travis, lbj etc have all had random markers thrown out. Not being malicious or anything but it is annoying. I'd like to put a yield sign in the road in front of my house so I can back the boat in

Good question. I live on a Lake in east Texas and our homeowners association requested through the lake controlling authority to move a no-wake buoy out past the first boathouse one passes coming in to our cove (about 250 yards further out). The lake authority approved our request and moved it. Previously the buoy was set many years ago well toward the back of the cove before houses were built. We asked to move it because 2017/early 2018 was a high water time and with the boat traffic, which includes ski/pleasure and fishermen, we saw considerable shoreline erosion. In fact I just received a quote for a retaining wall that is just shy of 40K. However I'd say 75% of all boaters including bass fishermen pay no attention at all to the no wake buoy. As for me, a bass fisherman, I always comply with no-wake buoys. As homeowners we just hoped a little less wake activity may save the expense of a retaining wall. No such luck! It's the price you pay for living on the waterfront I guess. And I guess I am no different than property owners on the main lake who have no no-wake buoys to slow wake activity down. The water is lower now so erosion is likely not going to be a problem for the next several months.

It really doesnt matter 90 % of bass fisherman come by my dock ignore three No Wake bouys , they just drive right next to em kicking up good size waves .

It really doesnt matter 90 % of bass fisherman come by my dock ignore three No Wake bouys , they just drive right next to em kicking up good size waves . Next to or through? There's a significant difference.

I'd prefer extended no wake zones to retaining walls even as a non lakehouse guy as they bounce waves. Who did you contact to get them moved.

I saw three fisherman roll through the no wake zone (not shut down late just drive through it) for a hundred yards or better literally yesterday, out of three boats. That's 100%. I don't take that to mean everyone ignores it but it would be statistically accurate even if my sample size was much too small

Yes, since the buoys were moved 895 boats have come up the cove while I've watched and 671.25 paid no attention to the no wake buoy. I assume the same average when I've not been watching but I might be wrong.

Wacky, we contacted the City of Tyler, Lake Tyler department and they approved and moved the buoy.
