Philly Mick had a "moment" at the US Open today. Frustration can get to the best of them.

Saw that too. Was very surprised to see that from such a classy guy.

His explanation was interesting, he knew it was going to run off the green and down the hill and figured he wouldnnt get it up and down so he decided the 2 stroke penalty was no big deal

Its good he had several holes left. It gave him time to come up with that excuse and present it seriously. Personally, I dont buy it, but I am not a golf purist.

Not classy for any golfer, but genuine with his answer. He justified poor behaver to all the press that asked. He played within the rules if you like it or not.

His explanation was interesting, he knew it was going to run off the green and down the hill and figured he wouldnnt get it up and down so he decided the 2 stroke penalty was no big deal Im not sure I buy it. I also think gold purists will believe its worse he did it for that reason, and not just because he was frustrated. I think people will accuse him of not being gentlemanly for trying to save strokes that way.
