I used to use the big Garcia reels for C.R. This year I bought Shimano Curado reels and absolutely love them. The only problem is line capacity for a C.R.

Is there a reel that cast as well as Curado yet has a very large line capacity and fast retreive ror reeling down quick? Thank you for your responses.

I made the switch to braid several years ago....line capacity has never been an issue since....Love my Revo on my C-Rig rod.

Any full size reel you already use and like will work fine for a C-rig setup. I like my Revo SX's because, well that's just what I like/use for most applications. Anything but the smaller 50 series "finesse type" reels should be fine. As mentioned above I use braid for my main line for the extreme sensitivity and hook set ability(little/no stretch) on longer casts and it works great.

So what is a good braid that cast well? I only tried braid when it first came out many years ago and it was hard to deal with. It sounds like they have improved

If you can wait, cabelas has been known to put Lews super dutys on sale for $99 around holidays. Holds plenty of line and top knotch. Very hard to beat at that sale price.

I use a Lews Super Duty wide spool because I use 20 pound Invizx as my main line. The reel has a low profile and it holds a lot of line. I used to use braid as a main line but switched to fluorocarbon and like that set up a lot better.

If you are going to use braid as your main line (which I don't recommend) any regular size bait caster will work.

I have 40# Power Pro on my C-rig rod, same diameter as 10# mono. If i put a lil Azz into it, i can cast a 1/2oz C-rig with about a 30" leader dang near all the way down to my backing knot, that's with a Lew's Team Lite on a 7-1/2' Castaway MH rod. You shouldn't have any issues with your Curado...they cast a mile anyway!

Power Pro is great. 50lb for me on a C-rig. Any lighter & I feel the really small diameters are harder to work with. I also do not and have never liked braid because of some of its handling characteristics but for C-rigs and frogs the benifits way outweigh the negatives. Try it!

I like the idea of increased sensitivity of the braid. I am somwat concerned about fishing these rocky West Texas lakes and getting that weight caught under rock with braid but I guess thats the least expensive rout to start with so thanks for the input!

Daiwa samurai braid is very low diameter. I think the 80lb is like 17lb mono. I use the 55lb for chatterbaits and traps.
