So I am ready to retire and buy a waterfront home. I have an off the water house on fork and love it. However my wife and two adult daughters want to live on a lake where they can do the typical water sport stuff. Is there a lake in east Texas where I can catch quality bass and my family can play with the water toys? A lake with waterfront homes. Any advice is appreciated. I have spent most of my adult life fiahing lake fork exclusively when in Texas and have lost touch with the surrounding lakes. Any input is greatly appreciated. Is big Sam an option? Never fished it. Tawakoni? Athens?

Thanks for your time,

Rich

Cypress Springs or Bob Sandlin. Lots of water stuff they can do and they fishing isn't bad either. You are also only 40 minutes from Fork and 15 minutes from Monticello. Both aren't cheap but Sandlin is generally cheaper for the same house than Cypress for whatever reason.

Lake Tyler is a good option, 1hr from fork, 30 from Palestine big city stuff nearby for the ladies. Tyler is a fun lake to fish as well and has plenty of lake front homes on it.

Jacksonville is great for boating and skiing, sucks for fishing. My choice would be Athens.

Prolly an easier question is what lake does not have those specifications. Sam Rayburn does not meet your requirements.

I like Lake Waco, but may not be east enuff for u.

Rayburn or Toledo. Depends on your budget and what you need around you as far amenities. No big cities around Sam or Toledo. Toledo you can actually have lakefront with a dock, Rayburn is corps so there is a take line. No permanent structure beyond that so no docks.

Quitman and Winnsboro are both close. I would go to Texoma if I were you.

Cedar Creek would be a good plan B.
