Port Aransas area in October

We've been going to Port Aransas area for a few years but the house we had been renting on Copano Bay was destroyed by Havey so this year we have a place on a canal between Copano bay and Salt Lake, it's a little deeper water than the pier we had on the bay but since it's back up in a deadend canal was just wondering how the night fishing would be

lights? if so i'd think it would be pretty good for small trout and a occasional red.
