You know it's funny, the people that do the best on that lake and win the tournaments, are the guys that never have been on that lake before or havent been on it in 8+ years.
Biggest Thursday Nighters bag of 20+ pounds last year was from a guy that had never been on the lake. Winners of TTZ this year hadnt been on that lake in 8 years. The TTZ winners from 2 years ago hadnt been on that lake either until then So true!

Or Plan B - go to Medina Lake and catch numbers but few and far between on big fish. Water was 60-61 Monday. Lots of hungry fish. Lake level dropping rather quickly again.

Didn't want to start a new thread just to ask a question...Canyon Lake is super clear right now. Would anyone consider throwing a jerk bait? I know they are more associated with cooler weather and water temps but I feel like it might work.

Throw em. Caught plenty of bass on a jerk bait on Canyon in June. Smallmouth love em.

The first tournament I ever fished was a San Antonio Bass Club event on Canyon Lake in 1972. Though I was born and raised in New Braunfels, I'd only been on the lake once before. I got lucky and won both first place and big bass with a single fish - a 6-02, caught on a black jig and black 6" pork eel. I haven't been back since.
