Marketplace confusion to the nth degree. Limited space in the kitchen, right now have a 14 year old Kitchen Aid side by side 25 cu. ft. It is getting weak, but working. Time for a new one. Holy moley.
Consumer reports says Samsung is best, followed by LG. The refrig. repairman said, Samsungs are junk. He said LGs are good. Kitchen Aid is made by Whirlpool, one person said Whirlpool is best. The Kitchen Aid to replace our current one that will fit is $2300.00. WTH?
We kind of need a side by side, and DEPTH is an issue because of the Kitchen layout. The French door kind in LG and Samsung seem good but a little too deep at 35-36".
Please, just put a bullet in me....

Yeah, I had a hissy-cow conniption fit finding a countertop depth fridge for my house a couple years ago. I feel your pain.

I am of the opinion that Samsungs and LGs are trendy, fashionable choices right now that are unproven. We have an old Whirlpool in the garage that refuses to die and a new KitchenAid in the kitchen that we like very much, so far. Counter depth will limit your choices and raise your prices. Good luck.

Yeah, I had a hissy-cow conniption fit finding a countertop depth fridge for my house a couple years ago. I feel your pain. My wife thinks the bottom freezer drawer ones (French door I think they are called) would be good. My back hurts thinking about bending over to root around in there to find something. The biggest problem is buying something that she likes because I only go in there to get a cold drink or some sandwich stuff. I wouldn't mind paying some money for a decent one that will last, but hate to think of buying one that she will complain about next year.

Well, we ended up getting one with french doors and the bottom freezer like you described, and a water/ice dispenser in the door. It was about the same price as you said.
*edit* just looked, it's a Kitchenaid

Our Samsung is a piece of carp. Ice maker has failed 10 times. Door seals are terrible. We neglected to renew the Lowes warranty too. When we replace it, I will throw a block party to celibate.

I will throw a block party to celibate. With as many kids as you've fathered, there's no way you're celibate.

Thanks. This goes along with what the Refrig. Repairman said about them when we had him checkout our current frig. Consumer reports says contrary. GE's they say are defunct. China bought out GE and doing nothing with that brand but changing to the HAIER or something. We have an LG washer and Dryer that the wife still loves after 5 years. I kind of like the Kitchen Aid products but man, they are pricey.

We went though this in the fall. We ended up with a Kenmore. We looked at every brand available and the best reviews were on Kenmore.

You might check Lowes. I have 3 of these Whirlpool side by sides(2 of the top one, one of the middle one) between the house, shop and office. The one in the house has been there 5 years, office about the same and 3 years for the one in the shop. Not a problem out of any of them yet. I paid about $1100-1250 each. Looks like you can get a good deal (30% off) right now and be delivered for around $1,000 out the door.

Today we are going to check what they have at the Firewheel one. The lady sales person at Rockwall told me that my Veterans discount applies to refrigerators too, so that is significant.
