folks get on here an say that you are responsible for your wake but has anybody heard first hand that someone was charged for it.

I posted this in the other forum, but it applies more here.
biggest waves come off those boats the guys surf behind with no rope. Last week while I was fishing, one of these wake / surf boats was doing their thing back and forth and when I seen the waves coming I turned with my trolling motor into the waves. The waves were so big on the second wave my trolling motor and bow basically speared it going underwater through the wave. They were far enough away and not crowding me, but those waves carried along ways. I was in a champion 206 also. Some one in a small boat could have easily been capsized. Be careful when they are in the area

I believe that when taught boater safety in my Wildlife Management classes that the boater safety guide books says you are responsible for your wake. See the Texas Water Safety Act Digest on TPWD. Get the hull number and report them. It's been a while since I taught that so you can look it up.

They will have to revisit that rule at some point. Its NOT OK for your boat wake to kill someone. It might not be illegal yet, but it will be as soon as the right person is killed.

I have the next 2 days off and really want to go fishing but I just can't make myself go out with all of the idiots that i know will be out there. I was really hoping for rain in the forecast.
Yet folks still go, then get on here and bitch about it, Its not right, It's not legal in some cases, but its going to happen, not just on holidays, all summer. Just have to decide if your going to deal with it or not.

Here's a little different take on this...
One weekend on Lewisville a big pleasure boat kept cruising by me with everyone giggling watching me bouncing around.
The weird thing was every time they came by I caught a fish. The waves were washing through the grass and stirring up the bait fish I guess? I guess their intent was to pester me but I found myself waiting for their return.
Doesn't always work out this way, but that weekend I was happy for the wake.
Happy fishing.

Lake Cypress Springs is the proving grounds to see if you can handle the wakeboard crowd. My MK Ultrex got it's workout the last couple days. It's so bad, the fish pretty much shut down from the boat pressure. I just laugh at them and work on my sea legs... I used to get mad, but it doesnt do a bit of good.

When its a holiday weekend, I just go to a smaller lake or just dont go out for that weekend, way too much BS to deal with.
If it was easy, everyone would do it

It's hard not to fish on weekends when you have a Monday-Friday job. I won't be back on the water during the middle of the day until mid-September, but I had a tournament Saturday. We went night fishing last night. There were still idiots and drunks out, just not as many.
On second thought, I might get a destroyer instead of a PT boat...with ballasts.

Weekends are not so bad if you get out early. Saturday I was having a great morning fishing until about 11. Then, the fun folks showed up and pretty much ended the day for me. It is funny to walk up the marina ramp to the car when everyone else is walking down the ramp to the boats....

Two idiots were on the water last night at Athens, at 1:30 am a wake boat was cruising the shoreline, then made a turn to open water directly in front of me. I altered my course since he failed to yield the right of way. We passed within 25 feet. The boat is white with large yellow accent stripes.
The other boat is either a potion or party boat, the sides have bright neon blue lights. However it has no navigation lights and the operator does not know boating regulations, as he too failed to yield when I approached from the right.
Be careful out there.

We were fishing a boat dock at about 2:45 a.m. when the blue pontoon boat came flying in toward us. We finally figured out that he was going into one of the stalls. He barely slowed down and hit the dock hard enough that the impact threw everyone in the boat forward. One girl in a bikini looked like she almost went over the bow. We were in utter disbelief. They all got out of the boat and went up the hill as if nothing happened. Ron White's "Drunk In Public" comes to mind.
