I took the family yesterday evening to ski and ride the tube. I went over some structure by Towash Creek with the graph on and saw whites bunched up on the bottom. I didn’t see any of that yesterday morning. Did the storm yesterday morning scatter them ofr did the full moon and high pressure mess with them? I’m going out this evening to see if I can get something to bite. Please let me know if someone isn’t having trouble like I am.

There is no way I would fish this weekend. Give it a few days and try again.

Is it the fishing conditions or the boat traffic due to Memorial Day weekend? Thanks for the advice.

I am almost certain that the lake "turned over" either on the 24th or 25th. I say this for several reasons.

1. I was killing the fish before. water was super clear with zero moss, grass, trash, sticks, etc floating on top.
2. Starting the evening of the 25th and morning of the 26th I saw a tremendous amount of stuff floating on top of the water that I never usually see. This was over the whole lake.
3. Could not find a fish that would bite on the 26th or 27th.

It would be very early in the year for the lake to turn over but it sure does seem like it did. I am sure I will get flogged by those that sunk the boat with fish over the weekend, lol.

A combination of the full moon and the fact that the shad finished spawning around the 25th is the reason you didn't catch anything. Fishing has been TERRIBLE on Whitney since May 25th. Before the 25th we were limiting every time we went out.

I can buy that. Sound reasoning. What do you make of all the mess that was on the water than had not been before. It wasn't just a little. It was a ton. And a huge amount of small limbs floating that was mossed up like they had been underwater for some time.

Any update on Whitney? We'll be down for a couple of days, hoping to get the wife into some topwater schooling action. Probably put in at Lofers and work our way up to the SP early morning, spend the heat of the day tied up in the shade at Kimball.

Found them schooling this am from McCown north. Lot of undersized, but fun.

Dad2r, I can't explain the debris. Fishing is still slow. I'm hoping it is the full mooon effect. If that is the case it should be ending soon. Full moon was a couple of days ago.

Lakes don't turn over in the spring. This only occurs in the fall. Lakes do stratify in late spring/early summer when the water starts to get hot and this is how a thermocline is formed.
