I have never used one of the China made Bucoo's but my older ones that were made here are excellent. Can't see them being a lot different. Dobyns is a favorite of a lot of guys on here so there has to be something to it. Duckett seems to get a lot of negative feedback on some posts here and with people I know that used them, enough that I will not try them.

Dobyns Fury. The buccoo and Duckett in that price range dont come close in quality.

If you are at academy.....look at the cheaper H2O Ethos HD rods. 7'3" heavy. It is a very well made rod with name brand components, like Fuji seat, Fuji guides, and a very good blank. Only negative, it's a little heavy with the painted finish....not crazy, but heavier. It fishes EXACTLY the same as my Cara ST Amistad. And costs $69.00. Leaves you $30 to buy some jigs and trailers.

Cant beat a Dobyn's. The Fury series is an awesome rod. But if your wanting to stay right at the $100.00 range look into the Dobyns Colt Series. The CL734C is a great rod. I have a couple of them and use them for jigs, small swimbaits, and a great buzzbait rod.

Another vote for the Dobyns Fury. 734c or 735c depending on the jig and cover you are fishing.
